Looking to quiet my Straight pipes down. (Video Added)

So I bought my car with straight pipes. This sounds good at idle and that is about all. The second you let off the gas all you hear is cracking and popping. Forget going over 3K it is ear bleeding...

The PO had a Y pipe put in just behind the axle and then splits two two SLP tips. I was going to go with a Dynomax bullet but I have a muffler I took off another car. It is not a 40series flowmaster but sounds pretty similar. Maybe more like a 50 seires.

My Question: If I put this muffler in place of where the old muffler should have been, and only muffle one side, how bad will it sound? I don't want to kill all the sound and cheaper is better for me. This I can do in my drive way with no cost except money for welding gas. On a cold day I notice most of the exhaust comes out the drivers side, and that is the side I'd muffle. Let me know your thoughts.

I took a look at it a little closer today, and the muffler I have once altered slightly will tuck up real nice and will never be seen. Not that anyone is going to ever dive under my car which is already lowered pretty good to see my muffler. But thanks for the input - I'll do it this weekend and will post up some results of pics and video for sharing purposes once done.

So as I said I'd post up some video. The results are much better than I could have hoped for.

Here's a video of the before and after. The car no longer pop/cracks when under hard or mild driving conditions. I still have a really good muscular sound without the ear bleeding and the constant crack/pops...

yep.....nice improvement.

i drove straight pipes on my TD setup....with a good sized cam...

while it sounded badass standing next to it, it was just painful to drive around. i was ALWAYS scared to use the throttle for fear of police.

i was actually disappointed when i put the mufflers on, feeling it was TOO quiet. but once i started driving that all went away.

i use the throttle MUCH more now.
