Long Tubes, with Cats

Hello everyone. I am considering putting some long tubes on the car this summer. The car currently has stock manifolds, stock ypipe, and gmmg chambered exhaust and sounds great but I want it louder..

I was looking at a pacesetter setup due to the decent price and having a ypipe available from them. I want to go with CATS on the car though because I'd like to stay legal. I can weld the cats in with my dad so its no problem.

Does anyone have experience doing this though? What cats would be best to go with for the $$, I've seen a wide range of prices on Summit for high flowing Cats from under $90 each to over $250. Also what headers / y pipe would be the best combo to do this with? Anyone have pics of the finished product?

Thanks ahead of time.

This is on the LS1 in your sig, correct? If so, TSP offers a catted y-pipe that works with the Pacesetter headers. I helped install that combo on my friend's LS1 and it turned out really good in terms of fitment and clearance. Thats makes it less painless than welding cats into an off-road y-pipe.

Yep for the LS1 (forgot to clarify, the 302 needs to be quieter not louder..) that sounds pretty cool.

Do you remember which cats you guys used? Or what would be a good choice, I am not worried about a 1-2hp difference between brands but what would be best.

We used the TSP y-pipe that already had the cats in it.

You can get the 3" cats off Ebay new for around $30-60. Grab the TSP y-pipe and add the cats to it and you'll be fine. I bought a pair of used 3" cats for $50 and the TSP y-pipe for $100. I need to adjust it but I've had no big problems since Thanksgiving when I installed the headers and y-pipe.
