Question Long tube Headers

I have an 02 LS1 camaro with some flowmaster exhaust. i want to make it louder so i was thinkin on getting some new long tube headers for it. what all does it take to install them. like are there a lot of things to take out. i heard from some people that in those engines, you have to take the whole engine out and slide it over just so you can install the headers. any comment would help, thanks!

headers in the LS1 are not that hard to install. it's more of a logistic dificulty than mechanical. tight spaces.

here is my IN DEPTH write up:

^^ I used his tips. Some headers require different install tricks. I had to disconnect my oil filter to get my drivers side in. But that was the easy side. My pass side I had to disconnect the trans mount and have someone in there shoving on the tailshaft of the trans to move the engine over a little. I actually ended up taking a sawzall to a small sliver of the K-member to get my PASS side in.

You COULD disconnect the motor mounts to get it to slide over IF you need to. But that's a bit much IMO. Just disconnect the trans mount to slide it over. Spay all your exh bolts down w/ WD40 the night before on a COLD exh, to let them sit. it only took me 45 min to get the old system out.

Not that bad of a job. once you get the new headers in there the rest of the project goes smooth.
