Kooks Headers
Kooks Headers
I have decided on Kooks Stainless long tubes with Magnaflow catted y-pipe.My question is should I go with 1-3/4'' or 1-7/8'' and should I have them ceramic coated? Thanks Current mods are basically bolt-ons and in my signature
It's probably just me, and I know the Kooks are very nice headers, but it seems like a lot of money to spend if your going to have to run cats. I realize cats can flow pretty well, but why not buy a cheaper header and use some of that money towards your next upgrade?
I used the 1.75" diameter to a 3"catted Y pipe with stock muffler. I did'nt coat them because stainless wont rust. As for the quality of the header's I think Kook's are one of the best. My car felt like a different car after the header's. You wont be dissapointed.
1 7/8 are not ideal unless you are building something over 500HP. I would get the coating, stainless steel is thin and does not insulate nearly as well as cast iron. Such as the case your stainless headers will leak alot more hot air in the engine bay, which your engine just sucks right back in. The coating keeps all that heat out your engine bay.
As for Kooks, go for it if you want the best....definatly worth the money.

Do they offer a stepped 1 3/4-1 7/8 for the LS series stuff? I got the stepped version for my LT1 set up and they are great...No need for the coating, I don't have faith in their longevity anyway...

kooks
overpriced in imo.$1300 for headers and y-pipe,my god!for that much money you can get a le1 kit and gain more hp than a header upgrade.im going with the pacesetters and having a in town shop coat them.i dont intend on stirring up an arguement but thats too much for a street car

I've pretty much decided that if I ever install headers, they will be Kooks. I hate rust and it sounds like a job you only want to do once.
