Kooks 1 3/4 LT and GMMG?
Kooks 1 3/4 LT and GMMG?
Do you guys think that this setup will be too loud on an LS1? I'm thinking about doing kooks LT and ORY and the GMMG, but was thinking that it could be very loud all the time. So should I go with a different exhaust or get a catted y-pipe?
Thanks

I put that same setup on my LT1 over Christmas. My car is still on jack stands, so I'm not sure what it sounds like while driving. I love the way it sounds just revving the engine and at idle, and it didn't seem overbearingly loud, imo. I did grow up on a farm and spent the first 30 years of my life around loud equipment, so I may be more accustomed to loud noise. GMMG claims that their exhaust is louder on LT1's.
I really like the sound of the GMMG and I'm very happy with my choice. You could always put some sound deadening material, like Dynamat, in the car if you think it's too lound.

Keep the headers, get yourself a catted Y.
The GMMG always sound better through cats. Keeps them smooth sounding.
GMMG on a bone stock exhaust sounds louder than pretty much anything out there. Add headers and it gets even better. But take the cat off and it starts getting too raspy and noisy.

I thought my car would get really loud with headers, but it just made my Loudmouth sound even better, not much louder at all. I do have a catted y, but it shouldn't be overbearingly loud with your setup.
