Heads question! Please help
Heads question! Please help
ok so I have a supercharged 95 lt1 (only 4.5 psi) and i was looking to get some new heads (after working my *** off to get some cash). I have talked with a guy on another forum and here are the flow numbers. I do not know anything about what is good and what is not when it comes to flow charts and things like that so someone pleeease give me some insight as to if they are "good" or not.
Here are flow #'s from the stock heads
before port work: Flow #'s after full port work.
Intake: Exhaust: Intake: Exhaust:
.200 = 130/99 -- 134/104
.300 = 180/140 -- 190/144
.400 = 215/166 -- 235/172
.500 = 214/177 -- 257/191
.550 = 214/180 -- 265/195
.600 = 214/182 -- 265/200
All Flow #'s are at 28" H2O on the same flow bench, operated by the same
person.
Thanks
Geordi

Well those appear to be a pretty nice/decent flowing head. Nothing crazy there as far as ported numbers that I can see. I have ported stock castings that flow 241/181 @ 0.500" lift with less flow than those in the lower lift range. I made 446rwhp with 7psi boost, non-intercooled, not tuned per se.
If you trust the numbers - data below shows 24% increase on IN and 8% increase on EX @ 0.500"
After you get some more feedback, look at cost of the heads and see if makes good financial sense to get the heads (consider springs,valves, porter reputation, etc etc)
Might want to have a moderator move this to LT1 Tech for more results.
