Headers/exhaust is hitting ....
Well I've been trying to fix the minor problems with my exhaust. Now I've hit a snag and not sure what to do. The passenger side header was sitting on the K-member and the y-pipe on the drivers side was against the transmission cross-member.
I replaced the motor mounts and it brought up the header about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch off of the K-member and gave me maybe a 1/4 gap from the cross-member. At this point I figured that my problem had been solved. Well I went to take it for a test drive. It no longer hits when you put it into gear. However, if you give it more than 1/4 throttle starting out you can feel it hitting the floor again. Only for the initial launch tho. Once your moving the spots don't hit any more.
Where do I go from here? Will it hurt the strength if I grind out/notch the k-member where its hitting the header? How much room do I really need for flex? If anyone can give me some advice it would be appreciated. Thanks
