why would you want shortie headers when you can get long tubes for only a slight difference in price...you will see almost no gain from shortie's

Good point. Even if he has to deal with emissions, a nice set of emission legal mid lenghts would be the way to go.

actually I bought my pacesetter long tubes with emissions and air fittings, and they tuck so nicely under the car however you do need to purchase their matching y-pipe

The SLP midlengths have been shown to make the same power on mild head/cam setups as long tubes. 1 3/4" primaries to 2 1/2" collectors into a 3 inch final.... definately the way to go if you have the money.

But sometimes it's easier to fit the cats in a better location with a set of mid lenghts if he is concerned about emissions. Then again maybe thats not a concern in this case. Then yes, a set of long tubes is the way to go.

The SLP shorties are ok but man there pita when its time running the plug wires. And Changing plugs on them suck too. I would invest in some Arizona Speed and Marine midlengths or TPIS mids. both of those are good quality mids if thats the way you wanna go.

Is there a reason why you are set on getting shorties? Are you getting a good deal, or are you concerned about emissions or ground clearance?

Your still wasting your money with the shorties, I don't care how good the deal is.

Since emmissions aren't a problem for you apparently, get some Pacesetter longtubes, ORY, and hook it up to your current catback.

Do not buy shorties.

Had BBK shorties, replacing them with Pacesetter longtubes. Do the math.

that's a bunch of crap. I have a friend with a h/c LT1 and he changed out his shorties to long tubes and saw literally no difference on the dyno. (Within 5hp)

shortys build low end torque and long tubes are for high rpm horsepower . your choice of header should depend on what you are doing with the car . if you are only street driving and occasional drag racing then shorties are fine if you race more then go for long tubes . i have BBK shorties on my car and have no complaints ! i race my car every weekend and run in the high 12s with a stock long block and boltons .
