Header upgrade, Florida emission laws

I've been living in Florida for nearly a month know, and I'm about to get a Florida drivers license/registration/insurance/plate. I can finally rip the front license plate off .

Anyway, I currently have shorty headers going to a Y pipe and out through a flowmaster. I want to get some Pacesetter long tubes and run straight pipes, but

Is it legal?
Noise will be a concern for sure. Or maybe I can cut out the cat and get two mufflers? If I did that I'd probably put cutouts on for the track. I am open for suggestions but I want to keep it as cheap as possible, ie $500 would be OK $700 would be a lot, especially since Pacesetters are only $300-$460.

BTW, painted or coated? Are coated worth it?

Thanks for any input!

Florida does not have emmision testing, hence you dont have to worry about emissions

Weither its actually "legal", im not sure, and im in law enforcement

I dont think you'll have a problem

As previously stated there are no emissions testing in Florida. I have been running with out any smog related items on my camaro since 2000. Oh and definately get a coating. I don't know what Pacecestters coating are like but I do know that Jet Hots coating are awesome. My headers look as good as they did when I got them 4 years ago.

nope no emmisions in Florida, but noise might get you in trouble, I found that out the hard way, never run stright from the headers to pipes

As mentioned above... don't do straight pipes. You'll be paying more to get mufflers and stuff welded in later. But you don't have to worry about passing emissions down there as everyone else has also said. Pacesetters aren't very good headers though, probably not going to make a whole lot more power over your current shorties but you can give it a shot. If it were me I would save up and buy a nice set of stainless long tube headers with high flow cats and call it a day, but it's going to cost you a bit more money.

They're that bad huh? What headers would be better without getting much more expensive then? Can you recommend anything? Also what mufflers should I be looking at? Thanks.
