gutted cat

hey ive been thinkin of going with the magnflow exhaust over the flowmaster cat back systems. I didnt think much about it but my cat is gutted is it gonna have a lot of affect on the sound of the systems?

From my experience, it seems the Magnaflow really cleans up the exhaust note. I don't think you will have problems having a gutted cat with that particular catback.

Last year I had a bad left side cat. Got the code, and, sounded like loose bolts in a can. Cats were aftermarket Random Tech. They lasted about 4 years of punishment from a 383 LT1 with ATI D1. They were good flowing cats. The 3 1/2" Mufflex system sounded good with the random cats thru a single Spintec muffler. I removed both cats (Left side total blow-thru)and went to straight pipes just to experiment, and, it was way less money. Result... Lots of noise and bad resonance @ 2K to 2.5Krpm. Could not live with it. Then, installed a 3 1/2" 3 plate CCI insert before the axle. Helped with the noise and very little exhaust resonance. Better flowing exhaust. Also, I have installed a 3 1/2" QTP bypass. B.
