Flowmaster Y Merge

I had a couple questions about the FM y merge. My car is a 95 z28 a4. I have longtubes, ory, dynomax bullet dumped. cc503 cam, rr's etc. The bullet right now doesn't have much if any rasp but does drone slightly in the cruising range. With the new cam it has made it a bit louder. I was wondering if adding this merge to the existing pacesetter y pipe would improve this setup? will it lessen the drone? also will it tone it down slightly? I know having it dumped at the axle is not the most ideal but for me it is inexpensive and lightweight and i can't see dumping $$$$ into an exhaust system. also would I need to buy the 3.5" or 4" version for my setup? do I need to buy a 3.5" or 4" dynomax bullet or can i still use the 3" bullet i already have?

Magenaflow makes a nice 3 in 3 out y-merge that I'm running that on my custom y-pipe. This isn't my y-pipe but it's the same merge.

Flowmaster makes a nice dual 3" to 4" merge. Here it is in Summits catalogue:
