Exhaust clip thread?

First post guys.

Just bought a '94 Bright Red Z28, A4, t-tops, 117k, love it to death. Anyway, I know everyone has a different preference on how they want their exhaust to sound, I'm trying to find one I like. I honestly would like to keep the stock tips, I love em.

I had a single Flowmaster 40 on my '77 K5 and loved it, GM Performance 350. This is a quite a bit different though.

The car is completely stock. If I can't find one I like I'm fine with leaving it stock, which sounds good too.

I also assume any mufflers or catback that reduces backpressure would also improve my MPG (given I drove it the same). I baby her always.

Re: Exhaust clip thread?

Welcome to the board!

I've had nothing but a Flowmasters 80 series on my Z28. I really do like the sound. The biggest problem is that the system may have the hangers in the wrong spot(unless they have fixed the problem). On both of my catbacks from them, I've had to move the hangers. That is really my only compliant about the system. There are several sound clips and pictures in the exhaust system sticky at the top of the exhaust forum.

Here is my current setup. Kooks long tubes and Flowmasters catback FLO-17133 system. The long tubes make the car sound more like a race car. With the stock manifolds, the sound was deeper. I would not trade the long tubes for anything now though. Excellent flowing, fitting, and sounding system.

As a matter of fact...I just did upload a video I took back in 2004. We were living in an apartment complex in Martinsville, VA. We loved that place(was there 7 years). Was just like living in a town home.....1100 sq ft, $405 a month...only 4 apts. to a building, super well sound insulated....sorry about that!!! Ah, memories!

The car only had a K&N CAI and Flowmasters catback(the same catback system as in my video above). This may more closely approximate how your car would sound with it. I was testing the movie ability of our new Nikon camera back then. Video is SD, sound is not stellar, but it's not cell phone terrible either.

Here is my ***ching thread on the fitment of the catback system out of the box....

Re: Exhaust clip thread?

the borla has a nice deep sound to it also, sounded real good, you won't be able to keep stock tips with it i believe its 3 inch all the way out i haven't had it on my car for almost 2 years now, my slp system is louder and raspier, but its got 2 1/2 inch exits which i believe the stock tips can fit on i could be wrong, but i went witht he 4 inch tips that come with the system i love the way it looks like that, and the price of it wasn't that bad either
