Exhaust brace.
Exhaust brace.
4th gen people with LT's, does anyone keep the ehxaust brace after the Y-pipe after you do exhaust/ LT's? I'm almost positive it is the culprit for the bad vibrations I am getting as I am slowing down. Is it safe to remove it?
I had the factory support brace modified and extended so it would connect to my Pacesetter off-road y-pipe.
I'm not sure if I am getting across what I need to. It doesn't connect to anything. It's just a peice of metal that goes under the exhaust. It doesn't connect to anything. However, with the larger exahust, it is really tight againt the exhaust.
Some people take that off altogether, others put some washers in between the brace and the floor pan to give it some extra clearance from the y-pipe.
Or just get rid of it. Mine was rattling...bent it...added washers, but eventually it would touch again and rattle. You can search on this board and you'll see this discussion come up a lot...summary is that a lot of people just take it off.
You'll also notice that it's close to the tranny support as well...and that's a much more SOLID design, so don't know how much the tunnel brace is helping.
