emissions - complete exhaust...

For a 95 z28 A4

Right now it has SLP LM1 and I would like to add a complete exhaust system to it. I need have it all emissions legal.

-Can I have y pipe and long tubes and have it emissions legal?

-Will I need cats? If so, any suggestions.

Just wanted to see what kind of combos you guys would put and any suggestions would be helpful. I plan on doing a 383 with Ai 200cc heads, so can I have this exhaust on now with stock engine or just wait for the build?

thanks ahead

If you have to do tailpipe emissions or if there is a visual inspection, you will surely not pass with long tubes. I would look into a set of shorties or mid-lengths where you can retain the stock or stock-style y-pipe and the AIR and EGR systems. And yes, you can do the exhaust work now on a stock engine. It won't hurt anything and should actually add a noticable power increase.

I did some research and I guess you proved that all I can do are some mids. On summit they have pacesetter headers that come with a 2-piece y pipe that can use the stock converter.

-to get more emissions legal power can I add high flow cats that I've been reading about? Any suggestions on the cats?

Whether you have a stock cat or a high flow cat, it isn't going to make a traumatic difference to your overall numbers. If you really do want a high flow cat, there are a few good, cheap replacements to choose from: Carsound, Catco, and Pypes.

with mids and stock converter, where is the best place to put electric cutouts? Any brand name suggestions?

A single cutout in the i-pipe right before the rear axle is the popular spot for most of us.

I have passed with LT's with emissions fittings and a tune on a sniffer rod, get a random tech cat and you will be fine, visual you wont but here they really dont look at it,
