electric cutouts

whats going on guys so i just put my longtubes on and i was thinking about putting an electric cutout on each side for both headers. basically right after the part where the collector and y pipe connect. will having duel cutouts right after my headers make the car run sluggish or bad because of back pressure. its a 97 lt1

I would just put one, but then again, I'm cheap. You could put one where the Y merges into one piece and probably get similar results.

If you had true duals, getting two would be understandable.

What's your exhaust setup? I'm assuming LTs to ORY (3")?

More details would help give a better idea of the ideal placement. You should be fine though you will just have to double check wiring as it will be hot by the cutouts.

To close to the O2 sensors and it will run like crap when their open. Just put one in the I-pipe right under the rear passenger seat. There in a spot in that position that it will tuck up nicely in.

IMHO the best place for cutouts is around 12" behind the each collector followed by directly on the collectors. Both will yield about the same power but right on the collectors will soften it up more down low and move the power band a bit higher.

I to would honestly just put one back on the I-pipe before the axle. Besides, do you really want all of that drone up front causing a terrible interior quality (interior rattles, loud engine, etc.)

For what its worth on my old Borla. I gained 6 RWHP with the cutout open. Gains are bigger further forward.
