doing LTs: bullet vs. magnaflow

right now ive got a stock LT1 with my muffler replaced with a bullet. i love it because its very wide open and very loud. however its kinda raspy, mostly on the decel. not as much as the flowmaster i had before, but still raspy. im worried that when i get my headers it will get worse and it will just be loud noise, not really a throaty growl im looking for.

so im hoping to get the loud wide open sound of the bullet but a bit more civilized and with less rasp. i used to think magnaflow as a tame catback but with headers it might change.

i basically need something for LTs and no cats thats subtle for idle and normal driving, but does anyone have any personal experience? btw im doing pacesetter coated offroad LTs and offroad y pipe.

It probably will get worse with the LT's, but some people like that. Magnaflow, Borla, GMMG all sound awesome.

im sure GMMG sounds great, but im trying to keep it less than 500. i'd like to get a TSP rumbler (which is just a bullet and 3" tubing) cuz its only 225

Even with headers, the Magnaflow will still be tame.

Many companies make a "bullet", right? I think Magnaflow, dynomax and several other companies do. So you have a Magnaflow Bullet?

The magnaflow should suit you pretty well. Mines not that loud, so thats what the cutout is for.

After a few months with the bullet and turndown I am adding a Hooker Aero Chamber with factory exhaust routing. Bullet sounds OK, but the pop on the decel from high RPMs can be heard for miles!

do you still have you AIR system? ive heard that caused a lotta the popping on decel. either way, i guess the bullet would make it more noticeable.

and good point ttop1986, if i go with a magnaflow and its not loud enough i can always do a cutout.
