cutout feedback

Best investment i ever made to my car, and it was decently cheap. i already had some sort of aftermarket muffler when i purchased the car a yr and half ago, people are telling me it sounds like a flowmaster which i thought so too. anyways bought a cutout from jegs, manual one , but it sounds amazing! nobody thinks it sounds like a cutout usually does on cars. its still got a clean tone, only louder and more aggressive sounding. it is on the straight pipe after the cats and o2's but before the turndown for the muffler, so it isn't too far from the ground unfortunately but so far no problems with steeps and speedbumps etc which i go on both everyday for work. the sound at idle isn't too loud but when you get halfway or more on the pedal man it sounds mean as hell i'm telling you, it sounds different from all the sound clips iv'e found on here, youtube, streetfire and everywhere, trust me i looked into them before i got it, wasn't TOO impresed with the clips but went and did it anyways but i am very glad i did so. i have stock manifolds, stock cats, stock piping and everything but that muffler. whats weird is i can still feel some exhaust coming out of my tailpipes though, not too much though most i feel out of the cutout, i'd say about 70% or so. this is a good investment people not to mention it frees up some mid and high end power

I love my cutout, definitely one of the more 'fun' mods, mostly because mine is an electric. As far as freeing up power, here are back to back dyno #'s. 1st run had the cutout closed, 2nd run open, and 3rd run closed. Looks like an increase of about 5.5hp and 2ft/lbs tq.

These runs were before the SLP shorty headers and mail order tune.

I will agree with the OP, my e-cutout setup is still probably the best $300 ive spent on my car... and ive spent a lot more than $300 on my car

yes deffently one of the best fun mods. I started with the manual one then a year later put the electric plat on it and love it even more. As stated above you also pick up RWHP with it, I gained 7rwhp with it dynoed 292 closed and 299 with it open.

You wanna see some real cutout gains... shows how bad a Flowmaster really is.

cutout closed - 307/290
cutout open - 335/312
cutout open - 340/322

Also what mods did you have? I have heard that the gains differ depending on what you've had done to the car.

and omg it sounds wicked in the tunnel you make u-turns in under highways (forgot name lol) or even passing next to parked cars etc... I LOVE IT!! i think the aftermarket muffler makes it sound a bit different than if you were to just get a cutout though as i can still feel exhaust leaving the normal tailpipes, not too much but some

i can gaurentee it sounds like sh*t with stock manifolds. sorry. never liked the way a cutout sounds. i had one for a little bit. i lost all that low end grunt. switched to a catback a month ago and havn't looked back since. gained all that fun torque back.

Put some LTs on it and then open the cutout Even with just the catback, the LTs will make it sound so much better

yea there's no way you can say it sounds bad, people compliment all the time, it does sound bad though if you have one with no aftermarket muffler though, that's when it sounds like ****

Cutouts sound fine on single cat cars. But on dual cat cars, it's like a glasspack or something that just makes it sound like a jeep.
