Sweet, yeah when I get a cutout it's def gonna be an electric one, I'm not really gonna feel like crawling under the car with a wrench every time I wanna uncork the old girl

you dont need a wrench. They have wing nuts. Better have a pair of gloves or a rag though, those babies get hot. I can have both of them open on my s10 in 2 minutes.

Oh well the wing nut would def make it easier, I can imagine they would get pretty hot, didn't really think about that. An e-cutout would be a lot more convenient though.

True, I'd still like to get one, we'll see when the time comes though. First things first though, gotta get the new opti on her this spring and hopefully new exhaust.

If you do it get an electric one IMO- I had the one with the wing-nuts on my previous car and it was a PITA. The wing-nuts get hot, unless you have a set of pliers its hard to get them tight enough by hand to not rattle loose, esp when you are laying on the ground reaching under the car trying not to get burned on the hot exhaust. Yeah it gives you a cool loud exhaust but IMO it sounds too red-neck and obnoxious....but thats just me.

You can get a manual type now and throw an electric gate on it later too once you get sick of messing with it.

exactly what I was thinking.

You might find out, like I did, that I really dont open them up enough to even warrant paying the extra amount for the electric ones.

Thats why I am getting the E cut out. Then I can shut it off when I want unlike the lm1.

Re: Cut out or loudmouth

All three of you raise great points about the E cutout vs. the manual one. If anything, I'll probably just wait until I retire the car as a spring/summer DD to get a cutout. By then I'd be running it at the track quite a bit, in which case I'd probably do like procharged suggested and start with a manual. In that scenario, I'd mostly be taking the cutout off at the track, which probably wouldn't be frequent enough to make too big a difference I wouldn't think.
