cut the cat

How does one go bout removing this and keeping the engine light from coming on?
Is there something to plug the air sensor in the cat into after removing it so the car thinks its at optimal operating level?

Need to know the year of your car. Mine has no sensors that can detect if the cat is there or not.

Being older than mine I would guess there is no sensor either. Just guessing.
