Confused by the shop

well i have looked at alot of setups on the forum but my shop threw a curve ball. I have a relatively stock 1995 z28. I want to do either true dual with long tube headers, x-pipe (crossover) and the infamous Corsa catback. He told me that with long tubes, it makes the catback system useless because of the downpipes. It did not make any sense to me which makes me think he was talking about of his A. Anyway, I want a setup that is pacesetter long tubes, x-pipe with two high flow cats, and the 3.5 corsa catback. How does it sound and is it possible without to much fabrication for clearance purposes. Also I want it to be relatively quite. Any good places for prices on these items with quick shipping?

The reason I am doing this project now instead of later is because it failed emissions : ( They think it might be the cat. So why go stock when you can go performance. Thanks for any advice.

They think? So they don't really know, they're just going to start throwing parts at it, which is incredibly easy when it's someone else's money.

You should have been given a reason as to why it failed emissions, and that will be a huge clue as to what's wrong.

One question for you, how are you going to do a catback with an X-pipe? For one with an X you don't rund a single catback. If you want to run a Corsa catback you will need to get the pacesetter y-pipe and fab in some cats (if you need them) and then hook up the Corsa to the Y-pipe.

Mabye I'm not understanding what you are trying to say, but if you want an X-pipe you need true duals, if you want catback you will need a Y-pipe

Why the hell do you want to run true duels anyway. You really think its worth that much of a differance? Its not. The fastest Camaros are not true duels, so what makes you think that spending the extra money and effort and time is worth it. Plus, if you live in a place where you must pass emissions then your going to fail with the true duel setup because it moves the location of the stock cats. You would either have to find a place to slide it by or not do it at all. If GM wanted the Camaros to be true duels they would have made them that way. Leave it alone for christ sake.

You could go as far as to say that if GM wanted 3" pipes, Borla XR1 muffler, CAI, pullies, 52mm TB, 4:10s, hardend axels, Ripper shifter, Spec Stage 2, aluminum driveshaft, 1:6 rockers, 1LE elbow, LT4 KM, hardend pushrods, gutted, tuned, MSD dig 6, Baer Track kit, Eibach Pros , Bilstein HDs, BMR TCAs, KBDD SFC's, BMR Adj TA, BMR Adj Panhard Rod, DS Loop, 10 Spoke SS rims, Nittos they would have made it that way.

You didn't leave it alone did you?

You can't run a x-pipe with a catback exhaust, you can only run a catback exhaust with a y-pipe. The x-pipes are something that goes along with a true dual setup.

Someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed?? Or did someone **** in your cereal?

Wow, if they guy wants true duals then he can go get them. I don't care about the fastest camaros, but the fastest cars probably aren't running y-pipes and a 3" single. You can get to a point where the 3" exhaust can hold you back. But then you can get a mufflex 4" which is pretty expensive IMHO and they don't sound all that good, again thats my opinion. So far I have $85 in the universal x pipe kit, another $75 in mandrel bends, and $160 in mufflers for a total of $320 that will go from the headers to the dumps, I think that the mufflex catback is like $500 or more and you still need a y pipe which is about another $250 for a total of $750+ I guess you could call me cheap, but I'd rather have something that no one else can get off the shelf and just bolt on, but thats just me. If I can fab up the samething or better for half the cost I'll do it.

Why do true duals, because I want it that way, for one it sounds better, flows better, I get that feeling that I accomplished something, I get to use the welder for a few hours, and it sounds better and thats what I want, mabye he wants the same
