Cats for my exhaust (GMMG, Pacesetter)

I have a 97 Formula and am running a GMMG catback with Pacesetter LT's and a Pacesetter Y pipe.

First at foremost, I love the exhaust. It sounds freaking great. Now, I have a few small exhaust leaks that I have put band clamps over and siliconed to keep them from leaking. After doing this I have noticed that I still have a two leaks on the over the axle pipe and the y pipe.

When revving down from a high RPM the car backfires a little and at around 1600-1750 on the highway there is a little drone.

If I fix the exhaust leaks, will this help the backfires? And if I put in some cats, will this help the small drone?

If so, what small compact cats can I use?

Cats help smooth out all exhaust systems. Especially loud ones like the GMMG. I think all GMMG systems sound better with a cat. More refined yet still loud.

Can't help you on choosing a cat for your system though.

That's what I'm aiming for. No loss in sound but more refined.

I drove mine with the sace thing, pacesetters and the GMMG without cats for a while. I had bought pypes mini racing cats with it, and eventually had them welded in, i think it sounds better with the cats

I found these on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...005714010&rd=1

They seem to be almost exactly like the pypes ones but they are equally about 25 dollars cheaper per unit.

Think these would be a good buy?

Same goes for the Borla. The cat makes the sound much better.

I'd get carsound/magnaflow. They're proven to flow decently and you can get them for a decent price on the same site. I have no idea how many cells those cats above have. They could flow better or they could flow worse. Not all "high flow" cats are equal.

Thanks, the only problem is that with the carsound cats I think they may be too big to fit on my drivers side.

What LT's and Y pipe are you running? I talked to another guy with the exact setup I have and he said he fit a carsound on the passenger side but on the driver side he had to use one similar to the one in the EBay ad above.

I am running 2 carsound cats on my LT1. I did move my fuel lines over a bit so to clear up some space (didn't want them too close because of all the heat).

And I agree with pretty much everyone else in that my car sounded a lot better and more refined with the cats.
