Cat. Conv. and tailpipes so hot! HELP!
I recently had a crate engine installed and a full exhaust.
I had a brand new Vortec TPI engine, shorty Edel. headers 1 5/8 with Y-pipe, 3" in/out Dynomax high flow cat., Flowmaster 80 and full 3" pipes.
I took it out today about 3 miles at a leisure 20mph around the neighborhood. When I got back to wash it i sprayed under the rear bumper and heard a loud sizzle and the water steamed up. It was the muffler and the tailpipes. The engine operating temp. never goes above normal. Very minimal heat under the hood.
My cat. was also glowing red. The motor has been dyno'd at 360hp. Am I missing something? It has done this since installation I'm sure. I have only put 300 miles on it since installing it.
EDIT: all parts are new with about 300 miles.
