I open and close mine all the time while driving....
Its alot of fun while driving on the highway and having a little ricer come up next to you and then you open the cutout and see the look on their face and they will always leave you alone after that

agree 100%

Only had my eCutout on for a couple of weeks, but had tons of fun w/ it already.

Not that my car is "bad @$$" yet, but I pulled up next to some 'stang GT w/ that baby cracked open (eased it open a little more as I pulled to a stop) and the guys eyes bugged out. Needless to say, he didn't jump on the gas when it turned green.

yeah, i think thats the point of them. If you had to stop and shut your car off, it would defeat the purpose of shocking the hell out of the mustang setting beside you at the red light right before you blew his doors off....

Works well in executive parking garages next to expensive cars with expensive car alarms and shock sensors.

The cutout is a cheap and proven mod that can add up to 10 horsepower at the wheels. There is some difference of opinion where to mount them, but myself personally and many others pick the spot right before the rear axle.

We've got a pair of dumps on my Dad's '73 Camaro (not e-cutouts, just manual caps) and on the dyno, it picked up 18 RWHP, and about the same for torque with them open . Also at the track, it helped bring the car from a low 13 in the mid 100's to a 12.7 @ 109 . And apparently (according to the A/F on the dyno) the carb needs to be jetted up (too lean ).

Cut-outs are not BS .

Oh, and they sound amazing!

Put it up just on front of the rear axle.
Under the back seat, there's a little pocket that works perfectly.
Convenient, you can run the E-cutout control wires from there
up through the floor pan grommet and under the console.

over 10 RWHP and they are cheap too!? why doesn't everyone have one? If I accidentally drive past a cop with it open will I get in some type of trouble?

I think QTP charges about $200 for a 3" Ecutout kit. (+110 for the upgraded controller)
I've seen them cheaper from other vendors.
I see them for sale used on message boards at a diecent discount a lot.

Manual cutouts can be had for $30 or so.
The downside is that you have to stop, get out and manually uncap it (bolts or wingnuts)
Those work real nice for cars that only run open cutouts at the track

And yeah, a cop might get a little upset if you drive by with it open.
It's pretty loud (like driving around with no muffler)
Good for power and noise on demand.

FWIW, I dynoed 10rwhp/6rwtq difference between open and closed. (Runs 1 and 2 VS 3 and 4)
I don't know how much having it closed costs me VS not having it at all, but you get the idea.
