Anyone put a muffler where the cat used to be?
Anyone put a muffler where the cat used to be?
So I buy another red 94 Z for the wife so she can keep up when we go out cruising.
Had it about a month or so and the starter goes bad. I jack it up today and find what looks like a Flowmaster 40 series where the cat used to be. Car has BBK shorties and this wacko exhaust setup. Someone actually made a Ypipe off the shorties into this muffler and then straight pipe to the rear where it Ys into duals out the back.
I had to drop this custom Ypipe to get the starter out today.
Anyway, anyone ever seen this or have it done? I have to admit the damn thing sounds really good.

Its a unique setup that I had never seen done before.
I have seen bullets in the tunnel but that 40 fits in the cat spot real nice.
When I had mid-length headers, I had an x-pipe and dual bullets both stuffed in that spot, and then dual pipes ran to the axle and dumped. Couldn't even see it from the side, tucked up every bit as good as a factory system.
I would love to see some pic's or even a sound clip of that setup.. I love odd ball exhaust systems.. I'm running a 3in setup with a 18in bullet in the i-pipe and then a 12in bullet over the axel with 2otl exit. It sounds like a refined loud mouth.
