Any ideas what kind of exhaust I may have?
Any ideas what kind of exhaust I may have?
I bought my 2002 Camaro Z28 a year ago and have simply assumed it to be completely stock. However, I keep getting comments on the sound my Camaro makes and one guy at the dealership(when I took it in for transmission work) asked what kind of exhaust I have on it and I had no clue, just that I thought it was stock. However most of the other camaro Z28's I've seen do not have tail pipes that stick out like mine. They usually have more pipes that come out, bigger pipes, or can barely see them at all unless you look closely. Sadly I don't have many pictures I've taken myself, all I have are the pictures the dealer posted when they were selling the car.

Any information would be helpful, I will try to get better pictures later on if needed.

There are no words or logos imprinted on the pipes nor on what I can see of the muffler. I'll try and get a video of the sound it makes sometime in the future, but it does get the adrenaline pumping when it starts up.
Okay today I got underneath my car again, found a serial number on one side of the muffler, and then when I went around to the other side and got a good look at the bottom of the muffler, I saw the words "FLOWMASTER" right there on the bottom. So I took the serial number to the flowmaster website and this came up

Now I'm just curious based on this information how much it might affect horsepower(just a basic guess would be fine, I'm not gonna know anything until I get it dyno'd and see if there are any other tidbits on the car I don't know about).
Also what does it mean by inlet: offset and outlet: dual(I think I have an idea what the outlet dual means)

the 80 series crossflow muffler gets a bad rap as it is supposedly a poor flowing muffler and can actually reduce power. I have no proof of this just stating the info thats been posted all over the f-body forums. as far as the inlet being offset it just means that the inlet is not centered to the muffler. If the engine is stock and you like the sound leave it on there. Personally i have a magnaflow catback and LOVE the sound.
As it stands, I am quite happy with the sound and the look of the exhaust system. I've looked into some reviews and some people report no hp gain while others mention a great hp gain. This could be lent to either car problems or install problems, so I'll just have to dyno it sometime.
For now I'll leave it as is(partly due to financing, but mainly due to not seeing any current problems with it). If there is any hp loss than I wouldn't know because it's always been on the car since I've had it.
Thanks for the help guys.
