adding a cherry bomb

my 95 t a convertible with xfi268 cam , kooks headers , no cats and corsa exaust is way to loud for me. Would a inline cherry bomb added to this system make it quieter or make it sound crazy? would a cat installed make a difference? Any suggestions would be great.

I'd say go with a high flow cat or cats depending on your set up. Anyone else wanna chime in?

inline cherry bomb would make it probably ALOT louder, my friend had one on one of his 4 banger cars and it was deadly loud. A cat wouldnt help out with the sound of a car. Try and pick up a stock exhaust system. I have a magnaflow, its nicely loud when u want it to be, but when you're just crusing its not so loud which is nice too

the cat never made any noise level differences for me but did get rid of alot of raspy and cracking noises. i think the corsa is known to crack alo though isnt it.

one thing that i had done to my old camaro I had was I had lt's, ORY, and 3" piping with flowmaster single chamber is I added a magnaflow muffler inline where the cat used to be.
here is the one I used to have on my camaro:

And on my turbo'd toyota I used one that was similar to this but 34"" long and another magnaflow in the rear.they have different sizes and lengths you can use and I think that they give a nice deep tone.

I'm surprised your Corsa is too loud for you...it's a nice rumble and is only really loud at WOT.

Either way, if you yank the Corsa, I'm sure lots of folks on this board would be interested in buying it from ya.

I hope you don't mean the cherry bomb glasspack...one of the worst flowing mufflers... worse than flowmaster even.

how so? A glasspack is a straight through design

I had just a glasspack on my Z a while ago, it sounded good, and flowed good.

I started the car up with just the kooks headers after i did the top end. After i added the corsa it really didn't sound much different. I'm going to put a magnaflow muffler inline where the cat should be. i will try to put some sound clips in when i get it out of the paint shop.

so, yeah, the cherry bombs flow better than a magnaflow, and around 26-30 less than a aero chamber......

So, to me, looks like they dont flow too bad....

IIRC, Cherry Bomb's aren't all glasspacks... don't they have oval mufflers? If that's true, wouldn't the two you pointed out probably be considered oval mufflers, and the
2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet_ Glass Pack Tips- No Louvers- Smooth 274 CFM
2 ¼” Inlet/Outlet- Glass Pack Tips-Louvered 133 CFM

Be considered standard glasspacks? I could be wrong, that's just what I assumed about the data.

look at the inlet size.... 2 1/2.

I had a 2 1/2" on mine and it had a noticable gain over the stock muffler, and a flowmaster.

And, thrush makes the "cherry bomb" glass packs.

Right, but "Cherry Bomb" also has "Turbo" Series which are oval mufflers, along with many other types. http://www.cherrybomb.com/products/
The data is inconclusive, I suppose... either way, I guess I sort of pulled away from the whole point of the thread. Glasspack probably won't make it any quieter. I personally have the hooker catback and it sounds fantastic on stock manifolds until you punch it, then it screams. (and I've got the cutout incase I feel like screaming a little louder.) Can't wait til I install my LTs on tuesday.
