94 Z28 exhaust setup

I have a '94 Z28. I'm thinking of buying an SLP dual/dual system off a buddy who had it on his '98 SS, he said hed sell it to me for $150, he also has a set of corsa clone tips hed throw in for another $100 (he bought them originially from 6 liter eater designs for $150). All I'd need to make the system complete on my car is to have an I-pipe welded from my manifolds to the catback, anyone know how much that generally runs? Also, I'd like to buy some long tube headers at some point in the near future to run with this exhaust, pacesetter seems to be the best bang for the buck and is what I'm planning on going with, but nothing is set in stone. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Shoould'nt be more the $125.00 less if they just merge it with your I-pipe with a 2.75 to 3in expander pipe. I believe the lsx and ltx y pipes exit in different locations.

Re: 94 Z28 exhaust setup

I put a LSX TSP exhaust on my 94 with Pacesetter Longtubes and Y-pipe with no trouble at all.

Your best bet is to get band clamps for your headers and y-pipe. They don't crimp the pipe and allow you to easily remove it later if you have to. They might not seal 100%- (the one leaks a couple drops of water but doesn't make any sound) but life is a lot easier down the road for you.

I believe the stock y-pipe dumps in a different location as the y-pipe from long tubes. Thats why slp sells a adapter pipe for the loud mouth cat-back to use on a lt1 instead of a lsx

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Geezer powered, so I'll still need the adapter even though it's the stock dual/dual system off an LS1 SS and not the LM1 or LM2? Procharged, you probably needed an adapter for yours didn't you?

Re: 94 Z28 exhaust setup

I didn't need an adapter to run the Pacesetters and cat-back. The later year LT1's and LS1's dump in the same location as the Long-tubes with the y-pipe. The adapter kit for the early LT1's from SLP comes with an S-pipe to connect it to the cat-back.

For the time being you will probably need to have an S-pipe made or just buy the kit from SLP.

^ What he said. It may just be easier and cheaper to have the exhaust shop make the adapter for you. You need to ask them. I think the SLP kit is around $60.00

The kit with just the hangers and grommet is $60- the one with the added s-pipe runs about $120 if I recall correctly.

Any decent shop should be able to bend that pipe for you for under $20 I would think.

Re: 94 Z28 exhaust setup

I just put a magnaflow on my 96 and it came with the S pipe for 95 and older. If you need it you can have it for shipping cost and maybe $5 for my trouble. I guess it was easier for them to include it instead of making 2 kits for LT1s. Let me know.
