The air system on our cars is purely for heating up the cats, without one, the other becomes obsolete, you'd just as well go ahead and delete them both. No sense in having your car carry around unnecessary dead weight that's no longer functional. The air pump is generally a bit of a PITA to delete, but maybe not for you since you're doing LT's. Pretty straightforward though, mainly just a bunch of unbolting and cutting, I'm pretty sure somebody did a write-up for that on here a while back, I just can't remember who. Good luck.

Oh you gotta love that, the block off plate you speak of goes over where the EGR valve connects.

yeah that really sucks so now im just going to pull the heads cuz if i dont the way my luck is going ill break more on the drivers side & have to pull them anyway lol. might as well bump the compression now hehe

are there any "free mods" with these cars. i dont know much about these older camaros but it looks like i could do a coolant bypass mod on them like on my 01z28. am i right??

Yes you can, there's a discussion about this on thirdgen.org:

You could gut the cats or just delete them if you haven't done so already.

Ha yeah I would've figured as much with you adding LT's. My search for free mods for IROCs hasn't really turned up much, but you should try this guy's site:

http://iroczthecamaro.webs.com/

I've been skimming over some of the info on this guy's site, and while I haven't found anything yet directly pertaining to free mods, the guy seems to have a pretty extensive knowledge of the cars (he currently owns an '88 himself). Maybe you could join it and get in contact with him, he could probably help you out a lot better than me. I'd hit up Brent too, he had a '90 IROC so I bet he'd know something about free mods for those cars. Good luck with everything, man. Keep me posted.
