3" Extension Pipe Question

I have a muffler off a 2000 SS for my '87. It's a welded muffler of some type. All I need is a 3" extension pipe. The parts store has one made by Dynomax, in 2 pieces: the rear over axle pipe is $70, and the front piece is $120, totaling $190. For $219 I can order a whole cat-back kit w/muffler from Jegs!
Does anyone know where to obtain a 3" extension pipe for a reasonable price?

How long are you looking for? Usually you local auto parts store has a 3" pipe about a foot and a half for under 10 bucks. It gets the job done.

Well, it's the over-axle bend that's apparently the pain in the ***.

yea thats really not easy to optain without buying a kit. The cheapest route would be to use a stock 2.75" pipe from the cat to the muffler and then just use a reducer to make it fit. Otherwise i dont see it being much cheaper

So you're saying there was a factory 2.75" pipe? That's certainly a step up from 2.5". Tell you what, from what I've been seeing, running duals that exit in front of the rear tires looks like an inexpensive, easy solution. I'm not a big fan of that exit location, but it avoids that over-axle pain. But I'll check out the 2.75" single you mentioned. Thanks.
