2.5" custom exhaust?

i have a 99 3.8l camaro i am thinking bout making my own cat-back exhaust. i bought a 10 ft section of 2.5" pipe. will it help the breathability? wat i was gonna do is go straight back from the cat eliminating all bends, yes i know it will drag in a few spots, to a 2.5 inch super turbo dynomax muffler.

I had a Dynomax super turbo muffler on my 3.8 V6 when I had it. It sounded awesome. Like a small V8, the sound is not raspy at all(if they have not changed the design...this was back in 96-99).

I'm not sure you will see much in the way of gains with what you want to do....I went as far as to put headers on my V6. However without some serious mods, you'll never really get the benefit out of them.

I'm not saying don't do it, but I'm not sure you'll feel much from it.

If you are going to do it, do it right and not half assed. After the stock y-pipe follow the stock routing of the exhaust with your new tubing. Take the time to go up and over the axle like factory and then into a single in / dual out Magnaflow. Put some nice tips on it and be done with it. It will sound great.
