Where to get heads ported?
Where to get heads ported?
Hi, I currently have a 93 rx-7 that i'm considering doing an lt1 or ls1 swap into. Probably an lt1. Does anyone have experience with some shops in SC or nearby? I've seen More Performance's website, who's located in charlotte. Has anyone had any work done there?
Specifically i'm looking for a shop that has a good reputation for port work.
Thanks for any help guys!

Well.. we do street stuff in the winter when there's less race stuff to do. The work isnt banged out by immigrants (cheap labor) or wannabe salesmen like alot of the internet race shops.. but actual professionals who spend the season building 7XXhp 5liter trans-am/arca/all-pro/busch/cup/etc. engines
.
Work's lining up, should be a fun winter with our new CNC ls1 stuff
EDIT: I'm in Concord, about 8miles outta Charlotte.

SkarodoM, can you send me mail regarding pricing of the work you did for Dr. Mudge? I'm interested in doing the same.
Thanks,

there's pricing info on this page for lt1 stuff
lt4 stuff is the same, i just havent made a page for it. If ya want something wild like welded up ltx's, revised valve angles etc., then it gets a lil more expensive... but for what mudge had, it's all on the page, $1500 w/ core.
take care

Any thoughts on More Performance?
SkarodoM - Do you guys do complete crate engines? Any chance the whole package is any cheaper than the sum of the parts.
I'm looking for 450bhp N/A with all forged bottom end (for possible use of N20) for 10k or so. Any ideas, send me a pm or an email radarby@clemson.edu. Thanks!

SkarodoM....I am in the market for a set of heads, and just have a couple questions. My heads are not stock anymore, I had a 5 angle valve job done, and had to do some machining for the 987 spring kit. Also did a little clean up on the ports, and milled the heads 7 th. If I was to buy a set of heads from you, would i just loose my $400 core? Or would it be better if I just bought a cheap set and sent you those as the core?
Rob
I'll email ya about it this evening.
IRABuss, I cant core stuff that's already been worked on really... b/c I just want to make sure everything starts out the same and I know exactly whats been done to it and how it was done. That and, I dont know until I see it.. and it'd be a pain in the *** to pay $ for shipping something both ways if it wasnt something I wanna work with. Your stuff can be worked (probably, just never know until I have it), or you can just find a stock set and send that in. Your best bet $wise is probably to buy a set of stockers for $200-275 and send those in to have the work done. Afterwards you can try'n get more $ for the heads on your car b/c of they're no longer stock.
PM me or email me if that didnt answer your questions

There are some small shops but most are not LT1 versed, but the bottom end work can be done just about anywhere around here, the head stuff I would probably find a good place that has a rep that can do it.
I had my stuff done my C&R in Dacusville, happy with the short block, not happy with the heads but that is partly my fault, since then I have removed the heads and sent them off and now they are back on the car, still tying it all up but it will be ready in a couple of weeks.
I am in Six Mile, 15minutes from Clemson. email me and I can help you out if the car is going to be worked on locally.
