Post Well, we finally have some numbers on "The Datsun"

...Albeit poor ones.
Some of you that know me may or may not know this car, but here goes...
My bro has a 1979 Datsun 280ZX. Its propelled by a 408 SBC that makes 425 hp and 477 lb ft of torque. Behind this motor is a built TH350 and stock Datsun IRS with 3.36 gears and M/T "Indy Profile S/S" tires (almost completely bald now)

Anywho, Me, my bro, and a couple of buddies decided tom take it to Rockingham last night just for the hell of it.
From the first pass onward throughout the night, the car evidenced a *major* traction problem.
Best pass came at the end of the night with my buddy Joe Miller driving. It worked out to:
60' 2.07
1/8 8.17 @ 90.5 mph
1/4 12.49 @ 113.36

Best pass with me driving:
60' 2.5x
1/8 8.5x @ 91.xx mph
1/4 12.85 @ 114.79 mph

Bro's best pass:
1/8 8.4x @ 91.xx mph
1/4 12.7x @ 113.xx mph

Car ran a bunch of other 12.90s and low 13s, all at 113 or 114, with short times in the mid 2s. On every pass I drove, car would spin and go staight throughout first gear, then snap out about 2-3 feet on the 1-2 shift and skate toward the wall until it regained traction in third. Lots of fun, but not really the efficient way to good ETs.
This thing needs a pair of tires and a trip to Fayetteville. It just might get the latter this Thursday...tires cost money
However, the motor ran great despite the hot, humid conditions and lack of any meaningfull cooldown throughout the night. The mph was dead consistant: 114 with me driving (150 lbs), 113 with my 240 lb bro driving.
Later,
D.

Wassup BJ? C'mon, why don't you wanna make a big deal about it?
I will most likely be at 'Nam Thursday if it is not raining. Prolly ride down there with a couple of my buds here in Raleigh. Lemme know if ya plan on going.

Matt, the ET for your dad's car is presently 000.00 @ 00.00 mph. And you say you agree with him? Well, the ET for you car is....oh, never mind

Matt, the estimated ET and the actual ET are two different things, Matt. Your poppy can run off at the mouth all he wants, but until he takes that busted *** striped hood to the track, his pompous rhetoric is meaningless to me. I wanna see what he's made of, if he's as good a driver as you say he is Yes, you can tell him I said all of this
What's the estimated ET for your car? Then let's compare it to the actual ET. As I recall, the actual ET is only 7 hundreths and one mph quicker than the actual ET of my "slow ***" LT1. And you have an LS1 with MORE MODS than I have on my LT1! Gee, I wonder how such things happen. All I have to say is, this huge difference between the estimated ET and the actual ET of your car had better not run in the family. If it does, then your loud mouthed father is digging himself a hole. That is, if he'll ever even take that "God-almighty built supercharged Z06" to the track. And you say that your car, with all of its swirl marks and carpet stains, looks better than mine? Muahahahahahahahaha!!!!
TTYL,

D.

ok...First off the vette will distroy the dotsun. Unless the Dotsun will run low 11's it is like drakes busted lt1 trying to race me. Anyway Drake, our ETs may be close but my beats you in MPH and me and my car beat you in looks. I would rather take my car with the swirls and stains from girls nuting in there pants over my car, than your crapy *** LT1. No matter how good your paint is or the inside, it is still busted under the hood, and the front end looks like a pile of armadillo feces. You know what would happen if you lined up next to me, thats why the one time we did race you "missed 3rd", and thats why you wont race me again.

And as for you dave, i may be looking for the 12s (which are in sight) but at least i have found the 13s. Something you seemed to have never even gotten close to. Enough said

So in short:

Drake= ugly

Drake's Car= slower then mine, and very ugly

Dotsun = slower then vette

my car= faster then drakes

dave's mustang= hopefully hit from the rear b/c it could'nt out run the garbage truck that was trying to take it were it belongs. (there coming for you next drake)

Landrovers= poop

Anyother people want to be put in there place?

WOW. sounds like some people need to grudge match at the track. DANG! sounds like some bad feelings.

anyway. The Datsun sounds neat. That is a pipe dream of mine to do an engine swap in a rx7 or datsun. Hopefully I can check it out 1 day.

Bwahahahahahahahah!!
Oh, so the vette now runs loww 11s! Is that the estimated or actual ET? And with who driving it? Tarzan? Cause it sure aint gonna be you runnin low 11s in it. I would shut up right now if you could get that thing out of the 12s! And your car out of the 13s in less than 500 passes! And the *Dr. Pepper* stains out of your ride. And at the end of the day, your ride has only been proven by you to "destroy" mine by 7 measly hundreths and less than 1 mph.
Funny how you would say a car that in actuality looks quite similar to yours is so ugly looking. As for your looks, we won't even go there Mr. Soon-to-be Rookie Cop.
When are we gonna get some numbers on that Vette? I'm still waiting for an the anwser to that question. Just remember who started this boy.
Muahahahaha!

ok...i haved raced the vette and the dotsun in my camaro...and the vette is much faster...the dotsun is a 422hp rust bucket. Drake you konw that if we raced i would kill you by alot more then 7hundreths. Track times aint ****...just like your car...so if you wanna race lets do it.

(This is the part where drake backs down cause he is scared)

How much $$$ ya gonna have on ya next time you're at the track, BOY?
Datsun: $3,000. My bro's car, rust or no, it'll wax anything you own. And yes, I can bring it out anytime you are in the mood to run your mouth.
Vette: $60,000. Your dad's car. Ugly *** stripes on hood procaliming unsubstantiated hp numbers. Absolutely no rust. And I'll prolly never see you or your dad bring the thing anywhere near a racetrack.
Again, how much $$$ ya gonna have on ya next time you're at 'Nam? We'll go for win lights, buddy. But as much as you seemingly run your mouth for the hell of it, I might just come packing a little more than you think I have
