Sad day... :-(
Thursday was a sad day as I sold my Fbody. After four years of great memories, long hours spent modding the car, hundreds of drag strip passes, bracket race victories, 500 miles on road courses, uncountable street races, and many trips to BoJangles with my NC F-body friends, I decided it was time to move on.
For the majority of the time I had the Fbody, I've had a second vehicle. These second cars have gotten increasingly tame ranging from a very heavily modded Eclipse to a virtually stock M3. I've come to enjoy the creature comforts, quietness, slightly better gas mileage, handling, the ability to comfortably hold four and their luggage, and all around competance of the M3 even though it's no longer what I'd call a fast car.
I'd been kicking this around for a long time, but I really struggled with this decision when the day actually came to sell the car. I felt like I was selling out my first born and kept having to tell myself "it's only a car -- cars have no feelings." On the positive side, the guy had had two Z28's and seemed to love mine. I think he'll be a very happy next owner.
I already miss the power, looks, exhaust rumble, and uniqueness of my Z28. I'm also already feeling the itch for another heavily modded toy, but I'm not sure exactly what it's going to be. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted, but for now I'm a one car man.

Rich,
Sorry to hear man.
I did just like you, last you remember I had the 99Z28 right?
Well I had a few problems with it and got truck fever so I traded it in for a truck and got completely out of the game.
About 8 payments into the brand new truck I was feeling sick everytime we would go out to eat and a Saleen, Vette, GT, Z or whatever pulled up along side us. My wife even said that she could tell I wasnt a truck man. Well we were coming home one evening and a local dealership was having a midnight madness sale and I just rode through the lot. There under a canopy was a machine that seemed to call me by name (oddly enough in a womans voice) she whispered....Ive got what you need.
After laying down some cash to get out of the truck I took her home and she is sitting in my garage right now.
That was just last month.
I know without a doubt that you will be back....eventually, once you ride by your dream girl and she calls you by name.
Take care bud and keep us informed.
Mike

Mikie: Thanks for the kind words. I understand what you're saying. A new fast toy will come along that will call my name and I'll be right back in the game. As of right now, I'm thinking of laying out for a while and then looking at a C5 once the C6's come out and kill their value. I'm also going to be looking at pick-ups because I kind of need one with a house.
Drew: The guy was from Virginia. I'll probably never see the car again, but that's probably better than it being around here and seeing it all the time. I'd really hate the latter if he didn't take good care of it, or did something to it that I didn't like. He said he was going to keep it visually the same except that he was going to put some SS, 5 spoke wheels on it. That was always a mod that I'd wanted, so that actually sounded pretty good.

Wow,

Dan,
It seems that way dont it
Hope your car gets back up and running.
Yell at me later bro.
Oh and Rich will be in a yellow C5 before the spring gets here....any one wanna bet on it.

Damn Rich, I know exactly how you feel about the car.
I've been throwing around the idea of getting rid of mine, I just can't seem to bring myself to post in the "For sale" section. I hate to hear that you're a "import" guy now, but those Beemers are nice cars.
Mikie, you change cars more than I change my boxers.
Chris, glad to see you got you a new ride. You keeping the 81 for bracket racing?

Chris R: Congrats on the 99 TA. I figured you were going to get a LS1. I hope that you enjoy it and that it gives you as much pleasure as I had with my fourth gen. You'll have to keep us posted on your progress.
Ironically, I've had 4 different people contact me about buying the car since it's actually been sold. It got a lot of action -- just there are a lot of people that wanted it that didn't have the $$$.
Mikie: You're probably right on the C5, but probably not on the timeline. When the bottom falls out of the market, I'm most likely getting one of those. It won't be a daily driver, but truly will be a lifetime keeper. I doubt I'll get yellow -- we both know that all Corvettes are red!
The other thing I've considered is one of the new Vipers (they are @#()*@$ amazing), but it will take quite some time before I can afford one of those as a toy. Anyone got a spare 80k they want to give me for my 04 Viper fund?
Chris M: I think you're in the same spot that I was. I know that you were a guy that I'd tab as "never selling his car," but eventually you realize that it's just metal and plastic. I know my family and many friends had me tabbed that way as well.
The kicker for me was that I really wasn't driving the car any more. I put maybe 2k miles on it last year. Putting it in perspective, I'm on a 24k mile a year pace on the M3. If you're never driving the car, then it's probably best for both you and it if you sell it to someone who will. The hard part is letting go.

WOW, haven't seen all the old schoolers around in a while! I hate that you let the Z go Rich. You'll miss it from time to time, possibly dream about it, like I do all my previous rides. But in the end you'll be not happy, but satisfied, that you sold it when you've been settled in the house for a few years, have a nice truck and a C5 in the driveway. Anymore, to me, cars are more like chapters. So to finish the story you have to move on to the next one.
Congrats on the TAs Chris and Mikie! Good to see you guys again too!

Sorry to hear that Rich. My 90 has been off the road 3 1/2 years. I finally got around to building a new engine for it, and it's being installed monday. Hopefully my engine building skills are up to snuff and it won't blow up
