If anybody knows of a good machine shop with reasonable prices in the Monroe or Charlotte area of NC post away or send me a PM please. This is going to be for block/crank/heads work for a rebuild.

Thanks,
Dan

Yeah I've seen the club there one time. I was in a z24 though not the Camaro. I've been to more before but I have a sinking feeling they will be high for what I need done. I'm just going to do a basic rebuild this time around. Once I get the car back together I might swing out on a night that everybody is there.

There is a place I believe called bestbuilt engine, been a long time, that does good work for a fair price. I bought 2 different engines from them. They are in Charlotte, should be in the phone book.

We had some sleet so far but nothing that is sticking. Some frozen overpasses but that is it.

Yeah, we've gotten the same. Although tonight I think everything is going to freeze. It's raining and less than 32* I love ice.

Back to the question: Regarding all the Charlotte shops, anyone know the cheapest place just to get a block bored/honed? Also any shops in Mooresville will be cool. And do they usually charge by hole? Thanks

I'm gonna recommend F-Body Motorsports. From what I've seen so far, they're an excellent shop. The guy who installed my intake and exhaust systems, Rocky, really knows his stuff. Oh yea, are vettes allowed to join the charlotte fbody club? I can't seem to find any vette clubs.

There's a shop right down the road here in Lake Wylie close to the Nuclear plant that has a great reputation for machine and engine work. I have their business card in my truck and will post it here tomorrow. He used to do engine work with Robert Yates. That's enough in my book.

I don't know of F-Body Motorsports doing "machine shop work" so to speak. I know they'll do engine installs, intakes, exhaust and what-not, but I don't think they're doing the machining part of it.

sorry but no vettes arent allowed in, its strictly f-bodies. but, we have absolutely no problem with vettes or other cars coming and hanging out with us, going on trips, and some car shows. we love having other muscle cars expecially gm cars hanging out with us, its just you cant "officaially" be in the club. but there are a few vette and gm clubs in the charlotte area. ill post back with some info on them, what type of vette you have? my lil brother has a 1973 vette hes restoring.

Do you have an address and phone number for them? Rocky did most of the work on my car several years ago and I've had no complaints - other than he closed his shop. He is one of the best 4th gen F-Body trouble shooter's around, as is Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters. But Charlotte is 2 hours closer to me than Durham
