Made my first 10 second pass
I went to Darlington Saturday with the intention on making a 10sec. pass on my stock bottom half motor 350c.i.
My first pass didnt go to well. It was more or less a N/A shake down pass to make sure it was going to hook. It bit hard, picked up the front, then bogged.
Second pass, I waited till 2nd gear to spray it, and the car wanted to dance on every shift. I never lifted (other than shifting) and it went 11.81@120mph.
I didnt even want to make a third pass, but I had a feeling with that 120mph it should have been a 10. especially since the car has run an 11.68@117mph on motor.
So I let the car run in the lanes for a while to make sure the motor oil was hot and the coolant was cold (170*F in the pump). I kept the bottle heater till the the gauge showed 1,100psi. After a good purge it dropped to 1,050psi and I was ready to go. Turned it up to 4,500RPM and dropped it.
1.49 60ft.
6.96 @ 96 mph (1/8th)
10.95 @ 122.88 mph (1/4 mi.)
I have to say thanks to a couple of people:
Thanks to the guys who organized the event. I have done this on three occasions in Rockingham and I know it can be difficult to accomplish.
Thanks to Terry Weaver for being able to bring my SPARCO race seat in the back of his T/A. I wouldnt have trusted my factory seat on a launch that hard. I might have ended up in the back hatch
Thanks to Chad Butler and his friend for giving me a hand in the pits changing tires, loading and un-loading the car. Sometimes that is the hardest part of the whole day and you guys made it easy. Especially with my chronically bad back. Thumbs up to you guys

Hey man I was there and got to see it! It was AWSOME!!! I didn't get a chance to stop and talk but I did get the chance to take a look at it. It sounded great and I thought it was a stroker motor...I never knew it was a STOCK bottom end
Just curious what shot are you using?....150? I have just finished my 355 build and can't wait to see what it'll run
Once again....many props to you bro.!

Congrads Jeff, I know you were stoked with that run. Bob call me sunday and told me what you ran. I think my car would run similar times on the 125 shot I was spraying since I ran a 7.16 @96 in july and spinning. Again, way to go and see you in the spring.

Thanks, I sure appreciate it guys
. I was so happy to end the season with such a good pass. I guess its time to really start picking out a roll cage now. Actually, I would like to pick up a BMR rear sway bar, and short torque arm in the off season.I also just picked up my car from the dyno in Raleigh a few days before Darlington. I had it wide band tuned and the car is MUCH improved. I was very happy to see over 400RWHP out of my 350 c.i. motor.
I wish I would have gotten to meet more people while I was at the track.

Hey nice pass. I was the guy that exploded my rearend. Im also the one that thought of the idea for this event., And with neil, larry adn a few others off of scfyb.com we got it together. We are going to put another one together in the spring. That car is very impressive for a stock bottom end. I was hoping to get some tens also. My last time at the track I ran a 11.16 and blew a head gasket and broke my flywheel that run. There is always next time.
I weighed the old goat at Rockingham last month and with a 1/2 tank of gas and the full bottle, and full interior it weighed 3,350lbs. Then if you add my butt, that is another 225lbs. So I guess 3,575lbs with driver included; would be a fair guess.
I would like to put her on a heavy diet and drop a couple hundred more!

Nice run jeff, I see you around the air base everyonce in awhile but never had the chance to say hi, I drive a blue 96 TA. I couldn't make it up to darlington due to work but ill try to make the next one. I hope to see you there. Good luck.
Jeff, man I am glad to see you going 10's. I am on the same mission myself. Man it has been a long time we need to get up and hang man. Oh and btw what shot were you running?? Last weekend I went and ran the 1/8 with a NX 100 shot. Turned a 7.3 @ 93 with a 1.61 60' getting the wheel off the ground pretty well. Bottle pressure was only like 950 so with some 1100 psi we ought to se some 7.0-1's and a 150 should set me closer to the 6's .Well email and let me no how everything has been going.
