I go to leave for work today and my baby is tore up and the system is missing. You can see in the pics that they tried to smash the window, but the tint held it together, so they smashed around it then removed it. The dash around the CD player is busted, and the car is soaked from the rain.

They got a $300 pioneer cd player, 2 mtx 7000 12's, mtx 2300x, bel 890 radar detector, remote, and cd's. But, with my mad crimping skills, they couldn't pull the capacitor off of the wire. Pisses me off because they had to of been there for a while to unscrew the amp and capacitor. Probably happened at 4-5am when no one is awake.

My roommate also got her cd player stolen. She drives a '94 saturn that is bone stock except for a $450 alpine cd player. So it wasn't just the firebird being targeted. She was also parked right up front next to the apartment next to tons of other cars. It didn't appear that anyone else's car was broken into though.

This happened in University Terrace North(east mallard creek church road). It's a decently nice apartment complex, just some worthless **** from downtown probably came out to rip some stereo's off. Hopefully insurance will cover everything(state farm), but i'm not sure.

I thought i'd let you guys know so you could take a few extra precautions if you live around here.

d'oh, i park at UT pretty often to see friends etc.

Goddamned thieves.. Those apartments last i checked werent too expensive.. and consequently there seems to be a good man low-income families there. Not to be a bastard, but I wouldnt be surprised with all those damned ppl sitting around all day with nothing to do.

I'm in UT north, so it's a lil bit more than regular UT. Here in my building it's all college students/young people with real jobs. There are some low income people in regular UT, I see the kids out there waiting for the bus.

I work full time, so it wasn't someone sitting around with nothing to do all day. It happened sometime between 6pm-6am....i'm assuming 2-5am, cause that's when everyone is asleep.

At least insurance is going to pick everything up except for the cd's and the radar detector. Plus I have a $250 deductable for the stereo. So it looks like i'm out $1000+ cause some worthless **** wanted to steal my stuff.

I'm going to look into remote door openers + razor blades under the handles....I heard of some other guy doing it, and it'd make me feel good to cut some worthless **** up.

And what do you mean by claymores? As in the big swords?

 

I feel your pain....I am JUST NOW getting my claim close to getting settled with Progressive from my Aerocoupe being broken into....the initial offering they gave me today was $545 after my $250 deductible....the thieves did the same or similar damage to my car to get th stereo out...one difference being, my thieves were REALLY stupid, they left a $200 pair of sunglasses behind, and the remote for their stereo...I have a hunch on who the thieves were in my case....if you read about 2 punk high school bastards in West Charlotte being run down by a red Trans Am late at night, I don't know anything about it. Don't you love the CMPD response to car break-ins? The report-taker for mine actuallly told me she wouldn't bother with taking a report if I didn't have insurance to cover the damage...THAT will pi$$ you off!!!!

 

I have state farm, so hopefully they will settle quickly and easily. They have in the past from other claims, but i've never dealt with the Charlotte office. I thought the CMPD would send someone out to at least take a look/file a report. It was all done over the phone.

I was suprised that they didn't get the t-tops, I didn't even have them locked. The t-tops are worth as much as the stereo in re-sell easily.

If you'd like some assistance with the 2 punk high school bastards, i'd be more than willing to help. I'd love to beat someone unconscious then beat them until I've gotten out all of my anger.

Dude that sucks man. Do cars get broken into alot over there? I may be going to UNCC next fall to start college, I don't want to have to worry about my car all the time.

 

I'm not sure, i've only been here for 3 months. They have a few off campus gated communities, you might want to try one of those if your worried about it.

 

Eh.. I dunno if its any worse than any other area with a very high concentration of young inner-cityish people y'know

I commute.. so I dont leave my stuff up there overnight very often.. havent had issues yet, but eh.. who knows.
