Attn. GA residents! Help Please!

Hi Guys,

I'm moving to Atlanta from Cleveland and I'm wondering if there's any way around the emisions testing for my '94 Z28. Here in Ohio we've got collector plates that makes me exempt from emisions but I can't find if there's anything comparable for GA. I'd hate to sell it or even worse, put it back to stock. Any help you can give me would be really appreciated.

If you're all stock (except for hey, hey, hey) you shouldn't have a problem

My signature's just a joke. Among other things, its got a Crane cam, ported heads, Hooker LT headers and no converters. I'm looking at a way to put converters on it but ground clearance is severely limited. Also I've got a half assembled 396 on the stand for it that probably wouldn't pass even with emisions equipment. I'd hate to scrap my stroker motor plans. Thats why I'm hoping for a way around emisions testing altogether.

Thanks for your input.

The only way I know is to have it registered in a surrounding county that doesn't have emissions testing.

I'm moving to Gwinnett county which I know has emisions testing. I'm going to see about leaving it registered to my parent's address in Cleveland. If that doesn't work, I'll probably have to sell it and buy an LS1.

Thanks for your help guys.

you coud try the slip in convertors that jet-hot sells and just have a shop weld a heat shield to look like a converter, and then have some sort of air injection system to decrease percentage of emmissions?

I do ET testing in Ga. PM me and I can give you several options that can help. There are a lot of cars that pass ET around here that have wilder set ups than you, dont give up yet.

Thanks for the input guys. My setup is pretty mild and I think I would pass alright with just some converters. I'm not familiar with those Jet Hot slip in converters. Do they go inside the collectors? On tuesday I'm calling in a favor at my old job, Corsa Performance here in Cleveland. I built the whole system on my car from scratch when I worked there. I' going to bring it back in and see if I can squeeze on a pair of the smallest Random cats they make. Those jet hot cats sound good though if they're what I think they are. This would just be a short term fix though. I still want to finish my 396 so I'll need to pass something more radical. Keep the suggestions coming and thanks again!

Tried to send you a pm but it says you have them blocked, but the only visual inspection that is required in ga. is for cats. If your car will pass without them you could have shells of cats installed in your exhaust and still pass. As long as the appearence of cats were there you would pass no problem. I am not for cercum-venting the law but thats the way it is written as of this moment. If you want to I will run your car in manual mode to check the readings, and you can decide what you want to do from there. Shoot me a email.
