I don't know of any particular show to tell you, but I would think you could find a good tranny shop in Elizabeth City.

Hey Justin,
Check out Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters in Durham. www.carolinaautomasters.com

I'm not sure how far Durham is from you, but it's worth the trip. Jeff has a transmission guy who is great and reasonably priced. I had him do mine about a year and a half ago. If you can't get hold of him through his web site let me know and I can dig up his phone number for you.

Hey Randy,
One of these nights I'm going to make it up to 'Nam to have a little fun with you guy's

Mark, Durham is about 200 miles from me and Justin is another 60 or so miles east of me. So for him he's looking at a good 4 hour drive one way, of course I'm sure Jeff's guy is good it just depends on what he wants to do.

As for you coming up to play that sounds great. I need to call Bob soon to see if he has made any passes on the car with the new motor. You should think about going to the rock on the 14th of aug, it's the next to the last points race in TS and I'm going for 4 wins in a row and the points lead so it should be a blast.

Yeah, it's a bit of a drive, but Jeff is about 4 hours from me too. He sure stands behind his work though

Man, the middle of August is going to be HOT at Rockingham! But if I come be prepared, 'cause I'm NOT going to give the race away; You're going to have to earn it!

Hell, my car may not be running at that point. I have a short somewhere that's draining the battery and I can't find it. Haven't looked a whole lot for it yet though

Ya, those times were at rockingham on May 8th, I had just had it dyno tuned. The air was kind of heavy that night and I was running the short tires and turning to many rpms through the lights. The next weekend at rockingham with 27" QTP's and 90 deg heat it ran in the low 11.8's and was getting faster every rd, until I broke out and put myself on the trailer. Hopefully, this fall when the really good air comes back I should be able to easily run in the 11.5's maybe even slip in the 11.4's, but we'll just have to wait and see. Later.

hey guys , thats for the recommendation but I went through a hamton roads phonebook and found a couple shops that sound pretty competant . The prices are pretty good too , not too cheap to scare me away and nothing astronomical. One of them even is an old friend of my grandfather and he said hell back his work up with 3yr 36k mile warranty including towing and rental if my car goes down . Im pretty excited I dont know if any of yall remember but my cars been down for a while and things are finally looking up. 3000 stall tci here I come .

Does he know what he's getting himself into? That sounds too good to be true. I would definately make sure the warranty will cover you if you decide to take the car down the track and beat the he!l out of it several times, 'cause most shops won't honor their warranty if they find out you did. Jeff's shop (C.A.M.) will cover you. In fact, they build them *assuming* you are going to race it.

Just watch your backside. Friendships have a way of disolving when the $$$ starts flashing.

yeah , talked to him yesterday , his intentions are good , he would honor the warranty even if I take it to the track, but thats only if a stock stall goes in my car. Changing stalls voids the warranty. Ive got a couple more choices left tho .

Just out of curiousity, what kind of $$$ was he going to charge including R&R?

You may be doing yourself a favor by giving Jeff Creech a call. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. 919-680-3966

Mine was less than half that and they used better than stock parts. Not all-out race parts, but good stuff that will last in a street/strip car. And he got me a good price on a Vig. converter too (better than a "groupe purchase" price).

I know it's a long drive, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again myself. Whatever you do, $2200 is way too much IMO. And they won't warranty it if you put a higher stall in it? So much for friendship...
