Yet another tranny thread :)

Recently, my car has gotten really hard to go into gear. Every gear, not just one. So I wouldn't think that all my synchro's just went out at once, right? The shifter just feels really rough going into every gear, and you gotta give it a little extra force, especially to go into 1st gear and reverse.

What's causing this?

Re: Yet another tranny thread :)

Mine was always hard to get into reverse, and when i took the rear of the trans apart i saw that one of the small "pads" on the reverse shift fork was missing. Since all your gears are hard to get into gear, you might have worn bushings on the shift rod causing it not to be perfectly inline to engage the gears. Just a guess. PM jordon on this board as he does very good work with T56s. "JordonMusser" is his screen name on here and he rebuilds T56s regularly, so you can search for him on this board and talk with him about it. Great guy and knows his ****

[edit]- i see you're from texas, and Jordon is from college station i believe. So you might even be able to take it to him in the event you want it rebuilt.

Re: Yet another tranny thread :)

You mean a bushing on the actual shifter itself, or down inside the tranny? Can these easily be replaced without buying a new shifter?
