a wiring question
a wiring question
My 97 used to be a six speed and i converted it over to an auto. Well instead of getting a wiring harness out of an auto i desided to make my own because i couldnt find a harness in time. Ok so i had the computer flashed to be an auto and looked up all the pinouts on the plugs and where they went in according to the tranny plug. At first i had a plug that came off of a 94 and it was a pin short. Without that plug the tranny would have OD sometimes and didnt have it others, but the torque converter wouldnt lock up. Now i got a plug out of an ls1 that had the correct number of pins. Now the problem the car still has hit and miss OD which leads me to believe that it is a wiring problem ( im not the best wiring person) but the torque converter should have at least locked up. Maybe. Anyway this has been going on for alittle while. Anyone had a problem like this in the conversion or any ideas on what i may have been missing?
Well first off if you have first second and third then the no 4th is not a wiring issue since all the solenoids are used during those gears so that part of the wiring is correct, Lockup may be you issue if after ths car is warm fourth is commanded and lockup is commanded and lockup does not occur then 4th will be disallowed . Try running a lead from the PCM side assuming since you wired it you know which on that is for both the PWM and LOCKUP solenoid where you can ground the two , If your not sure which wires I will send you a diagram , ground them and see if lockup occurs that will let you know all is ok on the trans side, Lockup can also be disallowed due to engine misfire codes . Have you scanned for codes yet
