Exclamation Will V6 rear axle fit V8?

Hey,
Tried to search - but didn't find any answers.
Will 98 V6 rear axle fit my 96 Z28? What if the V6 axle was with drum brakes? And what if it had disc brakes? Will it change anything?
Or are there any other cars, to look for the same axles? There is not much V8 Camaros in junkyards in Estonia.
Can anyone help me out?

BR,
Anryo.

Does your 96 have traction control?

Most V6 rear axles do not have a posi differential. I think the Y87 package for the V6's may have included disc brakes and a posi, so if you find a V6 rear with discs, it probably has a posi.

My car's axle is broken, so I need replacement. Yes, my car has LSD (posi?) rear end and also is 3-channel ABS.
My only question was, will axle from 97 V6 Camaro with drum brakes fit to my car?

? ? ? ? What year are you asking about? A 97 will bolt right in. A 98 will bolt in, but may have a problem with the e-brake cable. You have to match the number of sensors for the ABS (3-channel, single sensor on top of the diff housing), or the ABS will no longer work.

My car is 96 V8 Z28 and replacement shaft would come from 97 V6 drum brakes.

Edit. Deem, I realized, that I'm talking about axle - but actually I mean axle SHAFT all the time.

I wouldn't have thought it, but the axle shaft for drum or disc, 94-97 without traction control is the same. A 93 drum brake axle is also the same. This is by numbers in the parts book.
