Who likes or dislikes their 9in Rear?

I have all the parts except for the housing to swap over to a 9in rear and I was wondering how the guys who already have them like them. I got the carrier and such for free, so it seems like a good route for just the cost of the housing. I read a little about the driveshaft angle being a bit off, and the power consumption. So how does everyone like them compared to the 12 bolt and Dana 60 options? How about with 4.33's or 4.56's? How about with a spool or locker? Talk amoungs yourselves, I'll give you a topic...9in Rears and the people who use them.

Everyone I know has a 9"...plenty of spare gears around.
Never seen anyone break one

I don't think it robs power lik people think.....have seen plenty of busted 12 bolts. Dana 60 is too big and heavy IMO for a bolt in ap.

I went with a moser...35 spline, spool and pro gear, datona supt., 1350 yoke billet.

I appriciate the input. I got a free WAR carrier with 3.73's and a bunch of other parts. I was planning on going with the Moser housing, axles, spool, and some 4.56's. If you know anyone who wants to sell some 9" stuff let me know. I'm going to be Frankenstein'ing this rear.

I may sell my 4.57 pro gears....35 spline.

I am going to have to go down in gear for my next motor.

The good thing about a 9" is all the racers have spare parts and stuff so you can swap stuff around to get it right

Any tips for making the 9" work well? I heard the pinion support is one weak link in the chain. But other than that how did your TQ Arm, Sway, and driveshaft line up? I happily dont have to worry about ABS or E-brakes.

Why the 35 spline over the standard 28 or 31? Any reason for the spool over the detroit locker?

Sorry about the extra questions, but I am trying to learn a ton about these in a short time so I can get my car up and running again.

my locker took all the fun out of street driving my car. i would trade my 35 spline axels & locker for 33 spline axels and a trutrac in a heartbeat.

I'm very pleased with my tru trac 3.50 9". The tru trac is the best differential I've ever used. It really transfers the power well. I have a little noise on decel but not bad. Its dead quiet all other times.

I was going to get a tru track with my Moser 9 but they swayed me against it cause aparently the true trac is only good to 650hp. Moser said the detroit locker will take anything you can throw at it. Looking back now it may or may not have been the right decsion. I'm can't afford to do it twice!

the locker locks and unlocks on every gear change, around corners,it jerks the car left when it locks,1/2 round slack in the rearend ect.

I know a kid with a 9". He says it make alot of noise while driving. Same thing with the mechanics that drive the car.

We had about 7 strange dana 60s installed already and they dont make any noise at all.

I've got no noise coming out of my Moser 9".

I love mine, setup with Strange 4.11's, only downside is the basic trak-loc it has installed in it. I've got 31 spline axles, but for now it's going to hold up just fine for my needs.

Besides, I got the whole thing for $500 so what do I care

9", 35 spline, spool, 4.11s and aluminum center....no complaints here, and if it made noise i can't hear it over the exhaust anyways
