Where can i get a pressure plate!

I'm having a local shop build me a dual friction clutch but he said they can't get a pressure plate for my 95'Z. Something about they don't make them, hell i don't know. He did find out from centerforce and just for the pressure plate it was $310.00! Does anyone know where else i could find one at.

Re: Where can i get a pressure plate!

Just go to Autozone and get the complete Duralast clutch kit for $190.00 with lifetime warranty.
It is the exact same pressure plate as Spec, Centerforce excluding the weights, SLP excluding the holes and even Mcleod, zoom etc.

There are only 2 pressure plates in existance for LT1 cars. The LT1 plate fingers are ribbed and the LT4 fingers are flat, they even share the exact same casting number on the surface of the PP.

All aftermarket clutches have the exact same LT4 pressure plate period. Also there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to beef-up or strengthen these pull type pressure plates, they are what they are.

You can even have your stock pp resurfaced as a cheaper alternative.

Re: Where can i get a pressure plate!

Well I am in the market for a new clutch, I was pretty much sold on a SPEC stage 2. The clutch that was in the car was pretty new, but stock. Do you think if I resurfaced the pressure plate, and got say a mccleod disc from thunderracing it would hold up behind my H/C (ocasionally hit with a 150 shot) LT1 as well as the SPEC would?

Yup I do, I am running a resurfaced disk plus I buy them cheap, resurface them and sell them and never had a complaint.

These guys selling the LTx pressure plates for hundreds of dollars should be hung, oh I forgot that when you apply paint and a sticker they magically evolve into a better part. Tbyrne has good deals on SPEC disks.

Re: Where can i get a pressure plate!

It was lmperformance, not Tbyrne. Sorry.
I never saw it at the website but if you did a google search for spec lt1 clutch disk it would come up and they were $180.00 or so.
It does not seem to work anymore.

Im still a week or so from trying this disk out. We are expecting it to really perform and the price of the disk is super reasonable.
If your interested in a disk like this the price is $150.00

Re: Where can i get a pressure plate!

If I did want to try it, would I need to send in my stock disc to be redone by this guy?

If you want to yes, he will go through it and test it and if its usable then the price will probobly be a bit lower.

$150.00 will get new linings on an in stock rebuilt disk.

Hmmm...I might be interested, but I still have plenty of time before I'm putting the motor back in the car so I think I will check back with you when I get closer to needing it and see how you like yours

Re: Where can i get a pressure plate!

I'de recomend a mcleod disk, my friend with a 150+ shot on m/t dr's and a cc306 cam runs it and launches the **** out of it all the time and it holds fine. And I just put it in my car, its grabby but drives fine for a DD. I wouldn't get your stock one relined, expecially for $150 when you can get a new mcleod disk for 180. And the stock disk is pretty weak, I warped mine, so only 1/2 of it was making contact, and my friend completly tore his in half...
