What trans swap would you do now?

I started out with an A4/ST3500 combo, thought the trans was slipping some and the spraying option was coming up. I swapped to a TH350/Vig3500, but not spraying yet. I miss the lower revs the A4 offered on trips to the track.

Considering Manual VB 700R4 or a T56 swap. I have everything for the A4 swap, just need the built A4. The T56 swap I would need all the parts. And worried about breaking the rear end shortly after getting the M6 in place. But it would be fun to drive with the M6 in there!!!

What RPM are you turning with the TH350@65mph? You are running 3.73's still and did your car p/u or slow down with the TH350? I am doin the swap right now and am wondering how my car will do with the Th350. Did you keep the 2.52 first gear in the trans or go with the lower 2.75 gear? You could always go with a gear vendor OD thats what I am thinking about later. I have heard you can find them for around $1500 used. It's an option. Later Clint

With my street tires (295/50/15) (26") i turn about 3000 at 60MPH and 3200 at 65ish. I am still runnign the 3.73s.

I can not say the car has lost any with the standard 1st gear in teh TH350. I did ALOT of stuff when I changed to the TH350. The biggest problem I have is getting out of the hole, I miss the 3.06 1st of the A4....I was pulling low 1.7s with the A4/ST3500/3.73 and now I am only pulling high 1.7s but that is in the heat! I am pulling the same ET in the heat as I was in the cooler weather and have picked up 2MPH. But I should have considering the Head work/exhaust work/etc.

I probably will go to a taller rear tire for the time being. the GVOD unit is so heavy and expensive.

I hope to make some passes in the cooler weather to really find out if the 'stuff' added has worked for the better....

Well for $1500 you can barely get a decent OD unit built and it may not handle the power at least not with my setup 200hp N2o. Tehn it only weighs 40lbs. I am probably going to put the 2.75 lower 1st gear in my trans but i will try it with the 2.52 first. I will son have some #'s maybe this weekend. What did you do with your heads? How did you hook up your speedo? Who fixed your PCM for the TH350? Later

Looking at the Calculators I should have went with the 2.75 1st gear and the 4.10 rear gear to get close to the same 1st gear as i had with the A4. but that dont help the street driving.

I had the heads bowl worked and larger valves put in them. Along with bumping the compression.

I used Dakota Digital to get the speedo to work, but dont call those clowns for advice. I have had 2 other people call them and they have no clue as to what to do and say it cant be done but i know different....

No changes needed to the PCM. It does throw some codes but the SES light does not come on. I put in an M6 program and still get codes but it doesnt affect anything. You can have those codes deleted but unless you are already getting a tune there really is no need.

Well hook me up with the part# I need and exacxtly what I need to order. The thing is you don't need to have as much gear ratio with the TH350 b/c it takes lees power to turn and it is lighter too. I would like to go with the 2.75 and the 3.42's if it works like planned. Later

I bought the SGI 5a and SEN01, but with some editor manipulation i dont think the SGI unit is needed. The SGI unit is like $70ish, the Sender is $30ish. you just have to manipulate the tire and gear ratio to read right and i have no clue as to where to start with that....

I say go for the up graded 1st gear.
