What tools are needed to do a gear change?

What tools are needed to do a gear change?

I am on a budget, and I want my gears changed, what parts are needed to do the instalation and how difficult is it?

Not to be a dick, but if you have to ask what tools you need for a gear swap, you really shouldn't be doing it yourself.. It isn't something that you just bolt in and it's all good. But off the top of my head you will need a in/lb tq wrench, dial indicator with a magnetic base, Paint to put on the gears to check the contact pattern on the gears. Something to hold the yolk while you brake the pinion gear nut off. There may be some stuff i'm missing though.

Not to be a dick either, but I guess we were all born with a snap-on tool box in hand....

As above mentioned, a torque wrench and dial indicator are vital. All other tools are option as I just used my E-brake and a socket to keep the yoke from spinning when breaking the pinion nut loose.

i agree with pasky (and lt1camaro). if you can get a housing spreader, that'll help you a lot. its not necessary though.
