At what speeds is the 93' A4 4l60/700r4 suppose to shift?
I have a new 93 GMPerformanceParts Tranny 4l60/700r4 installed on my mildly modded Z, but it shifts WAY too soon. At mild throttle in OD It makes the 1-2 shift at about 10-11, the 2-3 at around 20 and slowly makes the 3-od at 45-50. It's such a slug after second because it drops into third so quick. If you go full throttle it shifts 1-2 at about 15, then skips second (it actualy shifts, but it seems to be a double shift because it's long) to OD at 25mph. I've adjusted the TV cable Full out, full in and everywhere between and it doesn't seem to make a difference. This is a brand new Tranny and TV cable, with a GMPP 1800-2000 TC. (I have a 28-3000 waiting to go in when the shifting issue is resolved) I have been trying to fix this for about 3 months, and it's been to the dealer who says nothings wrong (It's all warrenty work) They even put in another tranny for me. What gives?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I put in a new throttle cable too. If you run through the gears manually (1,2,D,OD) it's a rapped ape and will break traction on 1-2 and sometimes 2-3. It has more ***** in D than OD, but shifts the same, early.

Thats what mine was doing as well. I reset my TV cable and it raised the shift points back up. However, mine will not shift above 4300 rpms at any time. Still haven't corrected the problem.
It probably doesn't help you, but what I did was order up a new 700R4 with a full manual valvebody
Nice thing about that is no more worrying about the TV cable!
TTT for ya, and good luck. You may also want to check your governor assembly. The gear on the end is plastic and the teeth may get worn down. That happened to me before

It's the same thing with 2 different new GMPP Trannys, the first one had about 1500 miles on it when I had it changed and this one has about 300-400 miles on it.
This is the last year with the manual valve body, and I was wondering, are the shift points are controled by vaccum at the governer? I kinda wish it was controled by the computer. I've been told that changing TV cable positions only change kickdown points, and that's why my shift points have not changed, but I still don't know for sure.

your shift points are controlled by the governor, and not the computer on the 93. 94 and up went to the electronically controlled transmission, hence the 4L60-E designation, versus the 4L60 in the 93's.
I know it's not electronic, hence me saying it's a 700r4, manual valve body and making TV cable adjustments. Thanks for trying to help.
I guess i should of stated how do I change my shiftpoints on the govorner?? Bieng in 3rd gear at 22 MPH sux.
