What shif **** do you have?

I saw this thread on another board and though I'd ask here.

I still have my stock leather wrapped Hurst ****. I like it I think it fits nicely in my hand. Wouldn't mind a white Q-ball looking one, but I can't see gettign a shift **** I might not keep.

Are the aftermarket ***** more comfortable?

Another Q, what distinguishes the Hurts Shifter over a stocker? (Good stock vs plain stocker)When I did my transmission I noticed that my shifter base was a gold color. Is that the Hurst one?

My 96 SS came with the Hurst shifter. When I upgraded to the billet Hurst (Yes, it is an upgrade!), I ordered another Hurst leather shift ****. The newer ***** a little more comfortable than my original H ****.

Hurst leather ****. I liked my old MBA black **** with that 'Z28' engraving but damn was it scorching hot on summer days.

Any ideas on the shifter??

I'd have to sit in someone's car that has the Q-ball.

There is a considerable difference in the shifting qualities your car will have from swapping a stock shifter to an aftermarket one like Hurst. Even the factory Hurst shifters aren't the same as the aftermaret ones. IMO, the aftermarket ones are even slightly better than the factory ones. Better, meaning the throws are easier to make, and they are shorter. Thus making it easier/quicker to shift.

In my Formula, I got one of the few remaining metal shifter ***** with the Firebird logo on it. It is very comfortable as far as the feel goes. Metal shifters are very temperamental to temperature though. If its cold out, I almost have to wear a glove, otherwise I almost feel my skin will stick to the shifter. When its hot out, the shifter **** definatly burns, and takes a while to cool off.

In my Z, I have a custom shifter ****. Its details and other aftermarket shifter **** ideas are located in this thread I did a while back> http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...tom+shift+****

Here is my C6 Vette ****, which in my opinion is the best shift **** for the Camaro. It fits the hand perfectly and does not look out of place with the rest of the interior.

c6 **** looks clean. I don't even want to guess how much it is from the dealer though.

Stock H "mitt" here, love the way it feels but I tightened it a bit too much once and cracked the plastic so it will spin if I shift too hard.

not sure of the color of the original shifter bases...

but the hurst upgraded shifter was a piece of 1/4" plate steal (maybe alum..not sure), compared to a stamped steal base on the low level shifter.

the difference between the 2 is amazing...had my hurst out of an SS for 5yrs now...with a lou's short stick it feels like most other $200 shifters...for a grand total of $105 shipped

Same here. I believe the company is called GSCreations if anyone is interested in one.

I am hoping to add one of the genuine italian leather shift boots being sold on camaroz28.com with silver stitching. I think that should go nicely.
