ok i have a 96 trans am, longtube headers, orypipe, borla catback, short throw 6 speed shifter, k&n cai, delete egr/air....my gears are stock and i want to change them out , what size do yall think i should go with 4:10 , 3:73 or what?

 

Most people with 6 speeds go with the 4.10's NOT 4:10's (its 4.10:1 just a little correction

 

I had 4.10s and they were decent, but I had a lot of problems with them, as well as a few failures.

I now have 3.73s (in a Strange 12-bolt) and like them better.

The 4.10's are great for smoke-shows and if you're NOT going to do a lot of mods (Supercharger, N2O, Turbos, HUGE heads, etc); otherwise I'd do 3.73s.

 

I have 4.10's in my moser 12 bolt, nice SOP improvement from the stock 10 bolt and 3.42's

 

Ok well my buddy has a camaro with a 95 firebird rear end with 4.10's and wants to terade me for my 3.42's, he just wants to swap out rear ends cause he runs his on the highway a lot, and mine just gets drove on the weekend! U thinks its worth it? Also someone said make sure the abs is the same or maybe the traction control, but my trans am doesn't have traction control!!

 

Absolutely do it.

 

if you ever plan for a supercharger or n2o setup your going to want the 3.73's. If your staying na 4.10 for sure.
How much hiway driving do you do?

 

no highway whatsoever why? i live 1/2 mile exactly from the drag strip here, and the only place i go is to the drag strip hardly or just up to the store or down the road, i ONLY drive it on the weekends saturday or sunday, i do not drive it on the weekdays...why did u ask if i drive on the highway for?
