What Gains Can Be Had By Going With A 3000 Lockup Stall With 3 Disk
I just got a vig. 3000 lockup stall converter. That has the 3 disc set up instead of 1 What will this do for me? And how much better of a set up is it over a 1 disc? Will i have a better 60FT time? Will it lockup better into? I know the price differance was a bit more than i planed on but i have been told you get what you pay for and then some with vig. converters. Thanks For Your Time. Any input would be helpful. Mike.......................

I could be wrong but I think the 3 disc converters have mor clamping force for higher hp applications and wouldnt offer any gains to a street car.

It would seem to me that with more clamping force that would translate into a better 60ft time. and a more postive lockup. would i be wrong in saying this? Thanks For Your Time. Mike.....................

Honestly Mike I am not sure but I am pretty sure that any good converter will have more than enough clamping force for your car unless its a ultra high hp car.
My converter is a pro Torque 3200stall and it has enough clamping force to handle up to 650HP above that they suggested a multi disc converter.
dont forget that a converter functions by letting the trans slip abit to help get you out of the hole quicker if it clamped too much and didnt allow the proper amount of slip it might even slow you down,
I am not a pro on Converters so I could be wrong, maybe some one else could chime in and shed some more light on the subject??

If anything the 3 clutch will slightly hurt your 60 foot times. There are 3 clutches dragging now instead of one. The 3 clutch setup is for those who want a WOT lockup in the top end of 3rd gear. I see no advantage to locking up the torque converter in the quarter mile, unless you have to much HP & the torque converter is mismatched to your vehicle.
