What exactly have I got here?

OK I'm gonna put as much info. here to get as much back.
I am working on a 1984 Camaro Z28,I bought a rear axle,(complete),from a 1989 IROC. The tags on it say it is anti-slip and it has a 3.45:1 ratio. OK no problem yet,A buddy was looking at it and noticed it was a 9 bolt rear cover instead of a standard 10 bolt.I cannot get the serial number as the tag is too rusty. The part # of the axle is as follows...10085391. I had my guys a Chevy run the number and it just came back as a "not good" number. My buddy says it is an "Auburn" axle and i'm gonna have fun finding parts to rebuild it. The RPO codes for the axle are-g80,limited slip-g92,performance axle ratio,gm3-3.45 ratio. My actual question is, what exactly have I gotten my hands on?My buddy says this is a rare axle, should I keep it or just find another 10 bolt with limited slip and rear disc brakes? Any help would be nice.

Yes. it is a stronger set up then any 10-bolt. Also you got a very good ratio in the 3:45. Did you get the disc brake set up???
